Ever had a day when you wake up to a pile of dirty dishes and a laundry basket begging for some love? Well, Craig at Wheezy Waiter (asthmatic since 1980) knows how rock those chores out!
According to his site, Craig used to be a waiter in downtown Chicago. He says,
I started a video blog in late May 2007 out of frustration with a job that barely paid the rent and didn’t involve any of my creative skills. It was originally going to be a blog about the trials and tribulations of the dining experience, from the point of view of both waiters and customers. It became a showcase for my own brand of absurd humor which occasionally includes dining subject matter.
Craig is also in the band Driftless Pony Club which has released such classics as “Inertia is a Bitch“. Fresh Cut hearts you Craig!
Just a little gem of video happiness for Monday…
Bert Parks sings Let ‘Em In during the 1976 Miss America telecast with male background dancers. I agree with You Tube commenter monkzenone who said, “Can’t you just hear the director : “Uh…Mr. parks…can you make it more like a gay whiteface minstrel number?” Warning: If you watch this video just once you may not get the song out of your head for a week.
Special thanks to Dan Rybicky for the tip! Check out his pretty delicious photography on Flickr!
Ok, I’ll be the first to admit that I have yet to sign up for Twitter. I know it’s supposed to bring the experience of chatting, blogging and text messaging all into one fun and easy-to-use package but I’m still skeptical about why anyone needs to know that I’m flossing my teeth (yeah right) or eating chocolate for breakfast (more likely). This video from Wired pretty much sums up my feelings, though I’m still open to being converted…
Special thanks to Arthur Plotnik, author of Spunk & Bite, for the tip!
Now that the democractic presidential contest seems to be winding down (we hope), progressive organizations like Moveon.org are focusing their efforts against McCain. Their latest venture is the Bush vs. McCain Challenge which uses an amusing interactive game to link the two men and their policies in the player’s mind. Ofcourse it does get a bit ridiculous by the time you get to the McCain-Carrot Faceoff…
Here’s the partner video created by Progressive Media USA:
The Daily Show’s John Oliver responded last week to Fox News’ recent “documentary” about President Bush, “George W. Bush: Fighting to the Finish” (it actually exists!) with one of his own, “FOX News: The Meter is Running.” It’s an unflinching, no-holds-barred, fair and balanced look at…
It’s pretty funny. Have a look at the clip:
Part 2 after the jump…
Just when you thought Reel Geezers was the Web’s only hope for an amusing movie review show, film buffs Richard Knight and David Kodeski have come to the rescue with Movie Queens. A gimmicky web show in the best sense, Movie Queens is “all about film from the queer perspective” and it certainly lives up to its motto, “cinema veri-gay”. The show is jam-packed with great movie clips, funny montages and witty banter. David and Ricky cover topics “near and dear to movie queerists”, namely, plastic surgery, chick flicks, homoerotic superhunks, camp classics and classic classics. When you visit the site, be sure to click on “videos” and watch the mini-episode to see their interview with Bruce Villanch of “Get Bruce” fame. May the Movie Queens reign on!
Special thanks to B.Ingram for the tip!
We heart Pitchfork. Their festival even served as the backdrop for one of our first videos, “Trash Talk”.
Now they’ve entered the web video world by launching Pitchfork.tv, which features a gamut of interviews, performances, and other random clips that cater to snarky Pitchforkians.
One bit of randomness involves a video series called “Pitchfork Central Casting.” Its tagline: “In fall of 2007, Pitchfork put out a call on Craigslist seeking fresh young talent to be the face of Pitchfork TV.”
The videos are hilarious sketches documentaries about the auditions, which are judged by two special Pitchfork execs. (The interviewers’ characters are brilliantly played by Les Savy Fav singer Tim Harrington and SNL veteran/chameleon Fred Armisen.)
Obviously, there’s more to Pitchfork.tv than comedy bits, and we’ll have to see how it holds up in comparison to its heavily trafficked text site. Plus, while good for viewers, the site isn’t yet serving any advertising.
So viewers, go enjoy what Pitchfork.tv has to offer, ad-free!!! (For now at least.)

All this hard work has finally paid off.
Yes, friends and fans, Harpo Studios has made a sizable bid for our company, and we’ve decided to submit our humble venture to the Big O.
We can’t really talk details (you know, all that legal stuff), but we can say that there’s a lot of radical new programming in store for you. (Spoiler Alert: One of the shows we’re developing involves Oprah performing street magic with Carrot Top. It should be pretty sweet. The title of the show would have to be something catchy, yet something magical.)
So while this has been a lot of fun, it looks like Fresh Cut is moving onto bigger and better things. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to hand in a rough draft of “Oprah-Cadabra.”

*April Fools, suckas! Although really, I imagine very few of you actually believed this. I mean, seriously, there’s no way Carrot Top would have done that show.
At least we’re not as mean as Google with their brand new service prank: Virgle Pioneer. I wonder how many geeks actually signed up for it.
Oprah, we love you, but we’d have to think twice before succumbing to the O-Empire. (I hear you’re a pretty tough boss.) Nevertheless, I’m not kidding about “Oprah-Cadabra.” Have your people call my people. An Executive Producer credit and a free car should be compensation enough. You know, nothing much…
Actually, when I say “there’s a lot of radical new programming in store for you” and we’re “moving into bigger and better things,” that’s no joke. For realsies, we’ve got some top-secret projects in the works, and it won’t be long before we make that real announcement. In the meantime, pray for the cold weather to end. We here in Chicago could really use a tan.
Here at Fresh Cut, we’d like to take a collective breath of fresh air and salute the creator of getafirstlife.com. Darren Barefoot is a writer, technologist and marketer who lives in Vancouver, Canada (no, we don’t know if that’s his real name). He creates parodies like this one whenever he “gets bored with a technology or pop culture fad.” Cheers to the analog world!
