A Flash Mob Hits New York City

by Dorothee | February 11, 2008

People either love or hate the idea of a flash mob but most agree that they are a shock to daily routines. In this video, 207 people freeze at Grand Central Station at the same exact moment and hold their positions for five minutes while on-lookers become increasingly perplexed. I particularly love the cart driver who can’t move through the crowd and radios his boss! The passersby must have thought they suddenly entered an X-Men movie or that the end of the world had really come…

That video is incredible. I particularly loved the heavily Brooklyn-accented guy with the fork lift yelling into a radio, “There’s hundreds of people frozen everywhere!”

The music is really corny though; it makes it feel like “Ripley’s Believe it or Not” or something.

I wonder how many cameras they used for this…

Yeah, ImprovEverywhere is pretty sweet. One of their more recent stunts had a bunch of people riding the Chicago and NYC subways in only their underwear, but doing everything they’d normally do on a train (like reading the newspaper or texting a friend, except only in their undies).

yeah i was actually planning on going to the undie el ride…but something else came up. heard it was a success though

and yes, the music for this video is terrible.

Ha! I’m all over that shit. Read it and weep…

Mark, I owe you an apology and a steak dinner. Awesome coverage of the festivities, if I may say so… :)
