Fresh Cut Media’s latest project OrganicNation.tv has been selected as a Do Something American Express Grant Winner! This award is given to help grow sustainable community action projects created by young activists and entrepreneurs throughout the U.S. and Canada. Dorothee Royal-Hedinger and Mark Andrew Boyer are truly honored to join the ranks of such a great group of projects and people!
DoSomething.org believes young people have the power to make a difference. It is their aim “to inspire, support and celebrate a generation of do-ers: people who see the need to do something, believe in their ability to get it done, and then take action.”
Mr. CRO (aka Chicago-based artist Ray Noland) has a new project in the works on Kickstarter.com - a new online funding platform for artists, designers, filmmakers, musicians, journalists, inventors, etc. He’s attempting to raise funds to host a 3-day Run, Blago, Run Pop-up Art Show! in Chicago in July.
Based on the mysterious stencils of the disgraced former governor jogging in a track suit and looking over his shoulder, which are finding their way onto buildings and alleys around the city, this video is a nice way to rally attention for a good cause. Pledge as little as $1 in the show to make sure it happens and get art in return.
There will also be an open-call for artists to interpret the jogging pose juried by actress Joan Cusack & legendary house dj/producer Derrick Carter. 10% of sales from the show will be donated to Street Level Youth Media.
Thanks to Angeline at National Headquarters for the tip!
This summer, when my friend, Chicago-based musician Tom Schraeder, asked me collaborate on a series of music videos, I got very excited by the possibilities of bringing his audience into an intimate space that communicates not only his talent but his humility, grounded nature and love of family. What better place to film him than at a weekend BBQ thrown by his parents at his childhood home?

We’re super excited to share the launch of Fresh Cut Media’s latest project with you: OrganicNation.tv.
OrganicNation.tv is an exploration of the American sustainable food landscape focusing on the people, places and products that are shaping a new green economy and lifestyle. From farmers to urban gardeners, teachers to restaurant owners, we’re traveling the country to document how sustainable food systems are being created and we’ll be sharing blog posts, photos and videos along the way.

Mark and Dorothee recently got back from the OrganicNation KickOff Tour of the west coast where they traveled by train, plane, ferry and car from San Jose, CA up to Port Townsend, WA. While on the trip, they got to do things like visit a CSA, attend The Organic Summit, plant zucchinis on an organic farm, visit MakerFaire 2009, get interviewed by the Seattle PI and take a tour of a Portland brewery. Big thanks to everyone who shared their time, expertise and couches with the team!
Now back in Chicago, Dorothee and Mark are editing footage and blogging up a storm!
