I just work here.

HassanI’ve often wondered what it’s like to be a father. (It usually happens while I’m waiting at a stoplight.)

But the day has finally come to stop wondering about such things… Sort of.

Yesterday’s launch of Fresh Cut culminates about three months of web design, three months of filming and planning, and three more months of figuring out how to pay for aforementioned web design, filming, and planning.

Yes, it’s an idea that’s taken nine months to move from concept to realization. And with yesterday marking the end of this gestation period, if you will (and I will ), I’m embracing what is probably the closest thing to fatherhood I’ll ever know. Perhaps it’s better this way.

In making this business a reality, we’ve learned a lot about the current state of online entertainment and, more importantly, what it takes to be a young entrepreneur. We all hear about the Mark Zuckerbergs, the Steve Chens, and the Kevin Roses, and as such it’s no surprise to see tech start-ups (run by us 20- and 30-somethings) cropping up all over the place.

Thankfully, we’re not a tech start-up. In fact, you won’t find the word “beta” anywhere on this site (gasp!).

But we do want to create original shows and programming that, bit by bit, will give web video watchers the entertainment and information they deserve.

At least that’s the plan.

And with that, I leave you with a video that’s just perfect for such an occasion:

Yup, this video sums it up exactly.

Congrats on the new site, HSA! I’m impressed– it’s very spiffy. I’m sure you’ll make a wonderful father.

Talking about Mark Zuckerberg, did anyone check out his 60 Minutes interview from this past Sunday? Gawker has some good coverage of the piece, namely highlighting CBS’s not-so-hard-hitting attempt to get Zuckerberg to justify the infamous Beacon feature on “the Facebook.”

As for 60 Minutes, I’m very disappointed: What ever happened to extreme close-ups of sweaty interview subjects? What about the “To Catch A Predator”-style journalism tactics that made Mike Wallace such a badass? What has happened to the news!?
